The high temperatures sweeping northern China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region are heating up demand for an ancient therapy available only in the summertime: sand bathing. Tourists from across the country arrive to bury themselves in 40-degree Celsius sand, which is believed to treat ailments such as rheumatoid arthritis and hypertension, attributed in Traditional Chinese Medicine to cold and dampness.
