China has established Free Trade Zones (FTZs) in 22 provincial areas, with 21 created since 2014 as part of comprehensive reforms. These FTZs, covering less than 0.4 percent of China's land, generate nearly one-fifth of the nation's foreign investment and trade. Notably, foreign investment in high-end technology within these zones surged by 21 percent in the first half of 2023, outpacing overall growth.
