China is stepping up efforts to develop and deploy low Earth orbit satellites. In August, the country launched another batch of LEO satellites as part of the "Thousand Sails" project, which aims to build a mega-constellation of 15,000 LEOs by 2030. This initiative is designed to compete with Starlink, SpaceX's mega-constellation currently comprising around 7,000 LEOs. To achieve this goal, Chinese manufacturers are focusing on developing low-cost LEO satellites for mass production.
