Contaminated soil from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster is accumulating at temporary storage facilities in the region, raising concerns about the long-term environmental impact. According to Yoshitomo Mori, Deputy Director at the Ministry of the Environment Regeneration Bureau, the volume of contaminated soil exceeds the initial estimates and there are challenges in securing permanent disposal sites.
