Tobacco-selling season begins in Zimbabwe

A significantly less tobacco will be delivered to auction floors this year compared to last year due to a drought that has hampered production. Smallholder growers who account for the majority of production have been the worst affected. Despite the subdued production, players expect firmer prices. The feeling is that when the crop is small, the buyers will be competing for the smaller crop so that they get their orders fulfilled within a short period of time.
