Egypt has significantly increased its cotton planting area by 23% this year, aiming to boost production and strengthen its position in the global cotton market. Mohamed Emara, spokesperson for the Cotton Research Center at the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture, noted that this expansion aligns with the country's strategic plan to enhance agricultural output and economic resilience. This expansion comes as part of Egypt’s efforts to revive its cotton industry, a key staple in the economy.
