Italian researchers from the University of Catania are pioneering the use of volcanic ash as a sustainable alternative for building materials. Professors Paolo Mazzoleni and Germana Barone, both from the Department of Geology, have been at the forefront of this innovative project. Mazzoleni explained that volcanic ash, abundant in areas around Mount Etna, can be transformed into high-performance construction materials like cement and concrete.
