As the world marks World Environment Day, Africa continues to grapple with pollution related to textiles. Recent data shows that Africa continues to receive the bulk of used clothes, mainly from Europe, some of which cannot be worn or re-sold. Developing countries often lack adequate waste and recycling infrastructure to deal with textiles, meaning these unwanted garments ultimately end up in local landfills and waterways.
