Gospel artist Hope Kid is back after the sex scandal that tainted his image and wrecked his life. Since last year, the artist’s life has never been the same and he was at Switch TV the Switchboard to reveal it all.He and fellow singer DK Kwenye Beat were accused of infecting a college student with an STI after a threesome. Herpes to be precise.
When the scandal went viral, Hope Kid confided in his Bishop Welly Odendo, of Life Pool Chapel, who gave him a perspective he never could have thought about. If it was up to him he would have done the worst. He is grateful his spiritual father helped him handle the entire issue.
Life after the scandal…
As a gospel artist, a born again believer, the first place he ran to was the church. It was the first place that threw him out. Churches shunned him, Gospel artists did not want to be associated with him, during that time Size 8 was trolled for supporting him and DK Kwenye beat and she had to retract her statement to save her own skin. The institution that was meant to receive him and help him through it was the first institution to condemn him and shut the front door on his face.
On life lessons…
The artist has learnt that there are friends and there are people you know that know you”. He has learnt to live his life on his term and please God and not any other human being. Netizens were awash with empathy and nothing but love for him asking him how he went through the journey. He mentioned that the church needs to be sensitive to broken people. The church rejects the very sinners it ought to embrace and shield.
At that time if I went to Whiskey River people would have welcomed me…
He said he is not bitter and to all those shut doors on his face and friends that left he has nothing but love for them. He forgave them, understanding being in their shoes was not easy either. However Christianity should not be a badge of honour that people wear, it should action based. He has a new song out Testimony that speaks about his ordeal.
