Rapper King Kaka and wife Nana Owiti

Nana Owiti is one of the hosts in “ChatSpot”, an interactive popular talk show on Switch TV that airs every Monday to Friday from 5:50pm. She is also wife to legendary Kenyan rapper King Kaka.

We sat down with her and she narrates her journey thus far and future plans.

How did you end up on the show, and what is it about?

Someone mentioned to me of that Switch were looking for hosts for the show and thought I should try it out. I was like Hell to the No! Christians say we should rebuke the naysayers but was I to rebuke myself? Lol. I told her that I was so shy and couldn’t talk in front of cameras. She said I had a huge personality and that I should think about it. I went home, slept on it, well almost. I decided in the middle of the night to give it a try and the rest as they say is history!!

“ChatSpot” is a talk show where we tackle real stories from around the world. We also share our opinions on the topics of discussion. We always try to have guests sharing their stories and past experiences. It is mad fun.

How do you prepare for the show?

I read through on the topics of the day, do background checks at times even do a little bit of research. All of this is make sure I have clarity on the two sides of the coin.

Is there anything about the show that makes you anxious?

Yes! Right before we go on air; when the director starts the countdown. Obviously being a newbie, I’m scared about the choice of words to use??

When did you realize your growing passion in media?

I have had interest in media for a while now. Growing up, I always admired the likes of Beatrice Marshall and Catherine Kasavuli. Their professionalism and mastery of the art of being in TV. I guess I always wanted to command attention in a positive way, and an inspiring one too.

So you followed this into university?

No! I didn’t make it to university. I’m a college graduate where I pursued accounts and hospitality management. I think it was destiny to be on TV and am really enjoying myself.

What would you say was your big break?

So far, this job has been my biggest break and therefore I am putting my best foot forward. I am really grateful for the opportunity. Hopefully I will play my role in taking Switch TV and Chatspot in particular to the next level

What do you enjoy most about the show?

The authenticity and personality of each of my co-hosts. What you see is what you get. I enjoy coming to work every day knowing I will go home with ‘cracked ribs’. The girls are just HILARIOUS!! Also when I meet someone and they mention how positive we impact their lives, it is particularly great to hear.

Are you different from what we see on TV?

Absolutely Not. The show is real and therefore gives me the opportunity to be myself entirely.

What’s in store for you this year?

I honestly don’t know!! All I know is I’m working to be the best version of myself the Lord wants me to be.

Any support from your fans?

Am honored by the support I’ve received from my social media family. Being told that they wouldn’t want to miss the show never grows old.

Tell us about your family

I’m a mother to two beautiful babies. My daughter Gweth is turning 6 years in a months’ time. My son Prince Iroma is almost 3. I’m happily married to Kennedy Ombima (King Kaka) and we have been together officially since 2011. Marriage just like any other institution requires work, compromise and above all prayers.

What one word would you use on each of your co-hosts?

Joyce - Hilarious

Kush - Fun-loving

Mwikali - Welcoming

What is your thought on relationships?

I love love. As long as it works for both parties then so be it!

Welcome to the Switch TV Family Nana!
