Capital FMs Breakfast Show presenter Amina Abdi Rabar keeps scaling the heights of the entertainment industry.
The bubbly media personality has been selected to host the 7th Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) alongside a Nigerian radio and TV personality Ik Isakioduwa.
Amina who is a mother of one and wife to popular radio DJ John Rabar is an award winning TV and radio host, MC, voice-over artist and singer.
Amina posted on her social media platforms expressing her joy and confirming the appointment through a post on her Instagram Monday, March 9th where she indicated she was the first East African to be granted the honours.
“It was all a dream… The first time hosted by an EAST AFRICAN!!! Humbled beyond words. Thank you so much to the DSTV Kenya family to being so instrumental to my career from the jump.
Thank you Tim, Jakki, Maggy and everyone from Maisha Magic East for the constant love and support manze. From Eastleigh 3rd street to one of the biggest stages on the continent. Let no one tell you anything is impossible,” she posted.
While Ik Isakioduwa would be returning as a co-host for he has done it severally, Amina’s first time appearance on the show as a co-host is expected to add glamour to the event.

The news of her selection was first reported by a Nigerian publication identified as Yes! Magazine on March 7th, which indicated that Amina would be a co-host in the prestigious event held at Lagos, Nigeria.
The magazine quoted Wangi Mba Uzoukwu, the regional director of M-Net and Africa Magic, who was full of praise for Amina Abdi.
“We are excited to present Amina Abdi Rabar as the new female co-host of the 7th edition of the AMVCAs. She is vivacious, full of wit and has a very cheerful personality. We look forward to her and Ik bringing some magic on stage as we gather to celebrate the best in film and television,” Wangi was quoted.
Nominees..
This year’s nominees include Kenyan actor and musician Pascal Tokodi, the only East African to bag a nomination. He has been nominated as the best supporting actor in Movie/TV Series for his role in the movie ‘Disconnect’ which featured other big names in the industry like Brenda Wairimu, Nick Mutuma and Patricia Kihoro.

Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards is said to be Africa’s most prestigious celebration of film and tv talents behind and in front of the cameras.
It celebrates among many categories; the Best Actor in a Comedy (Movie/TV Series), Best Actor in Drama (Movie/TV Series), Best Actress in a Comedy (Movie/TV Series) and Best Actress in Drama (Movie/TV Series).
It also celebrates; Best Supporting Actor (Movie/TV Series), Best Supporting Actress (Movie/TV Series) and the Best Short film or Online Video.
The event, will also feature a special award category – Best dressed male and female – in recognition of the best dressed guests on the red carpet.
The 2020 event is to be held on Saturday, March 14th, at Ekos Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria.
