One of Kenya's youngest broadcasters, Switch TV, flexed its financial muscle as it unveiled a brand new line up of swanky presenters on Thursday, March 12. Speaking exclusively to Kenyans.co.ke, the station's communications head stated that the new line-up was in line with the broadcaster's brand new strategy for 2020. "In line with the Switch TV 2020 strategy, in February, the channel launched new programming, fresh content, welcomed new personalities on air and revamped existing shows to remain competitive in the broadcasting space," a statement signed by the communications head reads in part.
It's safe to say that Switch TV is switching things up going by its funky new blend of presenters set to grace the screen moving forward. A quick look at the new team reveals a bold mixture of different personalities, with some fresh new talent coupled with a few renowned media personalities. Let's take a closer look at the station's new line-up:
Fred Omondi alias Budaboss
The former NTV presenter needs little introduction, as his award-winning Hapa Kule News comedy show propelled him to stardom. Fred - an architect by training is also a creative director, comedian, writer and an actor in TV commercials and has also starred in local TV drama series including Tabasamu and Be “The Judge.”
Dayan Masinde
Dubbed the relationship coach, Masinde is a Nairobi based Kenyan artist specializing in poetry, fine art, portrait art, murals, creative writing, music, illustrations, and animation. He has previously served as a creative writer at Capital FM.
Joyce Maina
The talented actress has featured in several movies including; Disconnect and the famous Selina-Telenovela. Prior to her latest switch to TV, her exceptional acting skills landed her a mega job that involved being featured on the second season of This Is It, a romantic comedy.
Nana Owiti
Most people know her as rapper King Kaka's other half, with the power couple blessed with two kids, a daughter and a son, Gweth and Prince Iroma. The talented presenter has been hosting ChatSpot on Switch TV alongside Kush Tracey and former KTN presenter Mary Mwikali, after she replaced former Tahidi High actress Jackie Matubia on January 14.
Sheena the Fashion Icon
Sheena Frida Chiteri is the founder of the Strategic Fashion Development Consortium, an organization instrumental in the formation of the National Fashion Council for Kenya. The fashionista doubles up as a creative writer, prior to her new role as a TV presenter.
Switch TV also announced the launch of new programs, "The prime time slot is brand new with The Quiz Show, Blind Date, Decoded, Icons, Fashion Street and fresh episodes of Onstage. "The new bouquet includes new editorial products, Monday Night Football and Tipping Point," the statement from the station further reads.
The market share was up to 4.5% in November 2019 according to the GeoPoll audience measurement data.
