Blinky Bill graces the Kenyan music industry with authenticity

You are truly missing out on a totally different authentic sound if you have not already listened to his music. Blinky Bill (Sellanga Ochieng’) is an extremely talented Kenyan artist. 

Get to know him…

He was born on 24th August 1982. He is a musician, DJ, music producer and founding member of Kenyan electronic music and art collective Just a Band with whom he has released three albums.

The band is famously known for their song Ha – He that featured Kenyan musician Patricia Kihoro in the video. A remix to the song featuring rapper Nonini was also done. Just a Band was started ten years ago.

Blinky Bill’s sound is a mix of African, electronic, funk and hiphop music. His recent release four months ago is hit song, ‘Mungu Halali’. The song features Sage among other Kenyan artists.

Representing Kenya beyond the boarders

You Tube addicts know him from the Ted Talks Channel since way back. It is an American media organization that posts talks online for free distribution under the slogan "ideas worth spreading."

It is highly influential, highly viewed and hosts experts from all over the world educating people on different issues. Bill’s latest post was an interactive music performance five months ago.

He was also an alumni of the US State-funded music programme One Beat Music in 2013 and a participant at Red Bull Music Academy Tokyo, 2014.

Blinky Bill has performed at the Cape Town Jazz Festival, Littlegig in Stellenbosch and was included in the 2018 Yerba Buena Centre of the Arts YBCA100, a list of 100 people shifting culture and creating change.
