Tanzanian artist Diamond Platnumz is not a happy man! In a recently released list by Forbes Africa of the Richest Musicians in Africa, he came in at number 28 with a net worth of 5.1 Million Dollars. This turned out to be very unpleasing to him.
In a post he made on his Instagram page, Diamond lectured Forbes suggesting that the next time they want to make such a stupid list, as he termed it, they should conduct a thorough research on him before putting his name on it.
“FORBES: next time google me to know what am really worth of, before putting me on your Stupid Richest African Musicians List!!!”
The list contained 30 of the richest Musicians in Africa with Kenya's Akothee alias Madam Boss coming in at the 15th place with a 10 Million Dollars net worth. This made her the richest musician in Kenya and the whole of East Africa. It surprised many who assumed that Diamond was the richest, having gone international with his music, Owning Wasafi Classic Babe, one of the biggest Production Companies in East Africa, Wasafi Media as well as the many endorsement deals, he has.
Despite the publication going viral, many musicians and stakeholders were against it. According to them, the quoted figures were incorrect. Kenya's self-proclaimed Chairman of the Gospel Industry Ringtone Alex Apoko who on numerous occasions refers to himself as the richest Musician in East Africa, went ahead to make his own list in which he came first followed by Diamond then Akothee.
Diamond Platnumz appears to be doing well for himself musically. Looking at his views on YouTube, one can tell that he has made huge accomplishments in the Industry. The ‘waah’ hit song for instance currently has over 65 million views. Which brings us to the question, do you think Forbes Africa is right about Diamond’s worth, or he is worth more than $5 million?
