In east China's Jiangsu Province, villagers profit from hunting golden annual cicadas during the summer months. Equipped with flashlights and small buckets, they search for these insects, which hold cultural significance in China as symbols of rebirth and transformation due to their unique life cycle. Some cicadas spend 13-17 years underground before emerging, while others appear annually and are prized in Traditional Chinese Medicine for treating ailments such as sore throats and rashes.
